SIBA supports Tryanuary
The Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) is supporting Tryanuary, the new initiative that encourages drinkers to seek out new independent breweries, beers, bars and bottle shops during January.
SIBA has contacted all its members – brewers, suppliers and pubs – to enlist their support for Tryanuary. A number of SIBA brewers are already among the c.100 supporters listed on the campaign’s website and more are expected to sign up over the next couple of days.
SIBA managing director Mike Benner said, “January is always a challenging time for beer and for the broader drinks and pubs industry. What’s great about Tryanuary is that it encourages consumers to drink differently, not more, and it also includes a charity aspect, by suggesting they donate money to a worthy cause for every new beer they discover, for example.
“We’re delighted to be supporting Tryanuary in its first year and hope that it captures the imagination and engagement of consumers who want to do something different at the start of a new year, but don’t want to give up beer completely.”
SIBA suggests brewers get involved in Tryanuary by using the #tryanuary hashtag to promote their activity during January, whether showcasing a new beer, holding a meet the brewer evening at a local pub or a brewery open day.
The Tryanuary website www.tryanuary.co.uk also offers brewers and licensees downloadable logos, banners and posters.
