Devon Brewery raises it's biggest ever amount for the Poppy Appeal.
Otter Brewery has raised over £3,000 for the Royal British Legion as part of their ongoing annual support for the Poppy Appeal.
The total was reached through the outstanding success of Poppy Otter – a specially created beer sold in Westcountry pubs throughout November and December, and from an on-site staff collection box.
Across bars in Devon, Dorset and Somerset, every time a pint of Poppy Otter was poured, the brewery pledged to donate 5p straight to charity.
The cheque for the £2,800 (the money raised solely from the sale of Poppy Otter) was presented to the Royal British Legion’s Devon County Chairman Ralph Howard-Williams who was accompanied to the brewery by Community Fundraiser Carol Arnold. Money from the collection box has already been given.
Patrick McCaig commented: “A big thank you once again to all our drinkers, and the boys and girls at Otter, who did their bit in helping us to help the Poppy Appeal carry on their great work. We’ve now proudly supported this charity for the last six years and have a very close personal affinity with the values they have.”
Carol Arnold said: “Otter already do a lot of fundraising for other charities and communities that they care about but they seem to have pulled out all the stops for us this time. The amount raised is way up on previous years – it’s terrific! We can do something really significant with this donation and look forward to developing our continued association with them in the future.”
