New accolades for Hogs Back Brewery
Surrey craft brewer Hogs Back Brewery will be expanding its trophy cabinet after winning new accolades for two of its beers.
The brewery’s flagship ale TEA, or Traditional English Ale, has been given the Gold medal placing in the Best Bitter Category for the London and South East Area by CAMRA, the Campaign for Real Ale.
The award means TEA now goes through to the finals of the Champion Beer of Britain competition, held in August, where it will compete alongside the very best cask beers from right across the UK.
Meanwhile, Hogs Back Brewery’s Hogstar English Lager has won a Gold Medal from the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) in the prestigious SIBA National Keg Beer Competition 2015. Hogstar took top spot in the Premium Pale and Golden Lagers category, one of just 22 Gold Awards from around 2,000 beers entered into the initial stages of the contest.
Rupert Thompson, Hogs Back Brewery owner, said, “We’re delighted with these two new awards for our beers. With 1,500 brewers now operating in the UK, and a huge choice of beers for consumers, we can’t afford to rest on our laurels in terms of either beer quality or innovation.
“It’s wonderful that our commitment is appreciated not only by our customers, in terms of the beer drinkers who have voted TEA the best bitter in all of the South East, but also by the brewers, publicans, and beer writers who vote in the SIBA competition.”
