Two Internal Promotions to Oakham Ales Brewing Team
The fact that Oakham Ales trophy cabinet is bursting at the seams has led to two recent internal promotions to the Brewery team. Stewart Poulter (aged 37), becomes Assistant Brewer and Ed Sharman (aged 26) is promoted to Trainee Brewer.
Stewart has been working with Oakham Ales for the past eleven years and now supports Head Brewer, Alex Kean on a daily basis. He is currently helping develop and test three new recipes. Stewart is also studying for his Diploma in Brewing, a 3 module exam.
Ed Sharman who has been with Oakham Ales for nearly four years has moved from Racking/Brewery team leader to Trainee Brewer. He now helps transfer fermenting beer into conditioning tanks and works in the Laboratory checking quality, colour, gravity, yeast content and pH balance of beer and is also currently studying for his General Certificate in Brewing.
Adrian Posnett, Managing Director, Oakham Ales says: “We have been lucky to receive many accolades for our beers both on a national and international level. It gives me great pleasure to be able to reward and promote good people from within the Brewery. I am confident that Stewart and Ed will benefit hugely from working alongside our Head Brewer, Alex Kean and that Oakham Ales will gain from their positive attitude and enthusiasm for their new posts.
“Over the past five years, the team at Oakham Ales has nearly doubled from twenty to forty. We are currently looking to expand the brewery and warehouse which will mean recruiting a further twelve more people over the next 3 years to join our head office team.”
