New appointments boost A determined Wadworth sales team
Three new faces have joined the Wadworth sales team, bringing renewed energy and a fresh direction to the brewers’ trade interface. The trio all have a wealth of sales experience in the brewing and hospitality industries and come to Wadworth with the aim of boosting sales and improving distribution for the company’s quality ales.
“We are delighted to welcome our new members of staff to the Wadworth team,” says Sales and Marketing Director Paul Sullivan. “They join us at a key moment for Wadworth when we are showing renewed commitment to our existing trade customers and a determination to attract new ones.
“Whilst Wadworth’s roots are in the West of England, our beers are increasingly reaching a wider audience of drinkers across the country. With our impeccable reputation for heritage ales and consistent quality we can offer our customers the best of both worlds – a well-known brand such as 6X as a core offering, plus the flexibility of desirable craft ales created by our highly experienced and innovative brewers.”
A national role
National accounts and procurement were John Kirby’s speciality at Coca-cola Enterprises where he worked before joining Wadworth earlier this year. His new role as Sales Manager Pub Companies and Brewers will allow him to make the most of this experience as he meets customers across the country.
“My aim is to grow a stable relationship with key business partners in order to grow the cask ale category and the Wadworth brand,” he explains. “Working with such a fantastic product makes my job easier – I can talk with real passion about the ales and know that the skill of the brewer is backed up by the efficiency of the distribution network and the quality of the customer support.”
John lives in South Wales with his family and is a keen triathlon runner.
The West beckons
With an area covering Gloucestershire and parts of Oxfordshire and Herefordshire, Area Sales Manager Jerry Green is on the road delivering sales and after care service to free houses and national accounts across a wide expanse of the mid-west of England.
He joins Wadworth after a long career in the industry, including nearly 20 years as a publican and several roles in sales, including seven years with Molson Coors. “Having been a publican myself I know the trade inside out and can see the challenges from both sides,” says Jerry. “This really helps me to communicate the Wadworth message. I also have a passion for real ales and live music, so pubs are my natural habitat!”
When not on the road for Wadworth Jerry is likely to be spotted fitness training for his role as a volunteer for the Severn Area Rescue Association which has a lifeboat crew, mountain rescue and swift water rescue units.
London calling
Simon Tomkins is Wadworth’s new presence in London, with a remit to work with trade retail groups and wholesalers across the capital. Before joining Wadworth, Simon cut his commercial teeth with Maxxium before moving onto First Drinks and then Miller Brands where he was an Account Development Manager. He has an in depth knowledge of the London market and is passionate about bringing more great Wadworth ales to London drinkers.
“6X has been enjoyed for over 90 years so it has demonstrated its’ quality and staying power and proved that it still has that X factor – I’d love it to become the brand being asked for across the bars of London,” says Simon. “And being well established we can also offer solid support to bars and retail groups which is an important factor if you are running a business and want a dependable supplier.”
