Yorkshire coast brewery wins award for export
Directors and staff at a Yorkshire coast brewery are celebrating after winning an award for its export success.
Wold Top Brewery Directors Gill Mellor and daughter, Kate Balchin, were presented with the prize for Emerging Exporter at the Insider’s Yorkshire International Trade Awards 2015 last week.
The Wold Newton brewery was lauded by the judges as having done extremely well to grow in a difficult market. Wold Top developed the business into overseas markets to capitalise on the popularity of English style beers and benefit from favourable duty and vat rates. It now exports a range of bottled beers to nine countries and export sales make up 14 per cent of turnover.
Export Manager, Kate Balchin was delighted to receive the award: “We’ve worked hard to develop partnerships with our export customers and it’s very rewarding for our efforts to be recognized with this award.”
The awards dinner was held at the Royal International Museum, Royal Armouries Hall and attended by over 100 representatives from Yorkshire businesses.
Farm based Wold Top Brewery is part of the Higher Level Stewardship (HLS) scheme for environmental initiatives and is also working closely with the RSPB to promote its birdlife. Its range of award winning ales is also available through the website, independent and multiple retailers, farm shops, delis, hotels, pubs and off licences.
