Windsor & Eton Brewery takes over first pub
Beers were flowing on Tuesday evening as the Windsor & Eton Brewery welcomed guests to its first pub.
The company, based in Vansittart Estate, has taken over the tenancy at the George Inn in Eton High Street, near the bridge.
Brewery staff – including shire horses Tommy and Major – and the pub’s general manager Sarah Goodchild hosted a launch event to mark the occasion.
Announcing the news, the brewery said: “Because we’re taking over an existing tenancy and don’t have deep enough pockets to close and make alterations to the site, you’ll find that physical changes will be gradual.
“However from our first day you should notice two things – beer quality and standard of service. At the brewery we take pride in the fact that what visitors and customers most remark on are our zeal for fantastic beer and our heartfelt, mutual approach to how we work with all our customers. Those principles will always be top of mind for Sarah and her team.”
At the event, Will Calvert, from the brewery, said: “If you brew beer in Windsor and you call yourself the Windsor & Eton Brewery you better have a pub in Eton.”
