Parliamentary reception features SIBA award winning beers
Over 60 MPs and Peers got to try beers from ten SIBA members at a fantastic reception in Parliament on Tuesday evening.
CAMRA and the All Parliamentary Beer Group hosted a reception in the Houses of Parliament to celebrate Britain’s Champion Beers. MPs and Peers got the opportunity to taste eleven of the most recent CAMRA Champion Beers of Britain, the majority of which are brewed by members of SIBA. All beers were matched with a variety of food and visitors even got the chance to taste the ingredients in some of the beers, such as Maris Otter.
SIBA member beers included Moorhouse’s Black Cat, Oakham’s JHB, Caledonian Deuchars, Harviestoun’s Bitter & Twisted, Hobson’s Mild, Rudgate Ruby Mild, Castle Rock Harvest Pale Ale, Coniston No9 Barley wine, Elland 1872 Porter and Timothy Taylor’s Boltmaker.
SIBA’s MD Mike Benner said, “It was great to see that the majority of the beers on show were brewed by SIBA members. The reception gave me, colleagues and brewers the opportunity to meet new and established MPs to discuss the industry and of course try some of the fantastic beers.”
The event was also attended by new Pubs Minister Marcus Jones who addressed the event by saying he wants to work with all of the beer organisations to see “thriving pubs across the UK”
