Robinsons make history at the BBI Awards
Robinsons Brewery are raising a bottle of their award-winning ale after a record breaking result at the prestigious British Bottlers Institute awards.
TROOPER, Dizzy Blonde and Steam Lager all brought home the gold with Robinsons’ legendary Old Tom and 9 Hop IPA scooping the sliver. The results mark the first time in the history of the BBI awards that a brewery has won an award in five separate categories.
Ed Binsted, President of the BBI, commented: “This year’s BBI Competition saw a 25% increase in entrants;making the competition fierce. The standards were very high and in the case of the Robinsons entries there was a clear margin in the judge’s scores. TROOPER winning gold again for a second year is outstanding and clearly shows it is a true quality beer; no doubt why 10 million pints have been enjoyed worldwide.
Robinsons Brewery should be very proud of all their winners: Dizzy Blonde, Old Tom and, their new craft beers, Steam Lager and 9 Hop IPA. I can’t think of another entrant in the BBI Competition enjoying such a remarkable clean sweep, it will be a night of celebration in October when the medals and certificates are presented at The Vintners Hall in London.”
John Robinson, Robinsons Brands Manager, said: “The awards are proof that Robinsons beers are world class whether they are in a classic, traditional style or brewed in a more innovative and contemporary way. We’re just starting to test the limits of our new brew house and to get awards for beers such as 9 Hop IPA and Steam Lager right out of the gate certainly gives us the confidence to push the boundaries even more in the future.”
The Stockport Brewer recently reported their 2014’s annual results confirming their highest beer production in 15 years; driven by TROOPER, the brewer’s collaboration with heavy metal legends Iron Maiden, and Dizzy Blonde.
The awards and certificates will be presented at The Vintners Hall, London, in October.
