Ghostly goings on between York Brewery and The Chilli Jam Man
What happens when two ghosts collide? Mostly Ghostly happens.
Mostly Ghostly 5.4% is borne out of York Brewery’s Centurion’s Ghost Ale – the dark, brooding, ruby ale. It’s full bodied, roasted malt palate and autumn fruit flavours stem from the liberal use of British grown Challenger, Fuggle and Bramling Cross hops. When this ale is infused with The Chilli Jam Man’s Ghost chillis, the fiery result is enchanting.
The first ‘superhot’ pepper the Bhut Jolokia, is named The Ghost as the heat from its 1.1million Scoville rating creeps up on those who dare eat it. Likewise, the tasters and testers of Mostly Ghostly have reported the heat is delayed and it sneaks up on the drinker with a, growing, lingering warmth.
Described as rich, dark and hot, Mostly Ghostly is to be officially unveiled at the start of York Food & Drink Festival on September 18th. It will be available in bottles with a limited amount in cask. There is a tangible, feverish excitement at York Brewery as the launch is anticipated.
Director Andy Barker said, “The temperature in the brewery has been rising steadily with this latest innovation and believe me, Mostly Ghostly is out of this world. It is freakishly good.”
The Chilli Jam Man himself – Simon Barrett said, ‘I love working on collaborations with other great producers, everything from Chilli Jam Sausages and Pork Pies to Chilli Jam Ice Cream and Chocolate Cakes. Needless to say, I’m very excited to be working with York Brewery on a Chilli Beer, I’ve been looking for the right company to work with for years. We’ve had to do a lot of research on this which, as you can imagine, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed!’
Brand manager Neil Arden said, “The heat is on. We are inundated with requests for further information, advance orders and opportunities to sample Mostly Ghostly. I urge any members of the press unable to attend York Food and Drink Festival to contact me directly without delay.”
