Hop Pocket Race World Champions
The Teme Valley Brewery team beat all opposition to lift the title of World Champions in the annual hop pocket race in Bromyard, Herefordshire on Saturday 5th September. The race takes place on Bromyard’s main street and is the finale of the Bromyard Hop Festival http://www.bromyardhopfestival.co.uk/world-championship.html
Teams of 4 carry the 70 kg hop pocket from the town square to the end of the street and back leaping an obstacle at the halfway point. The winning margin was 10 seconds – a good result in a gruelling event.
The team also lifted the Brewers Gauntlet, a unique trophy for the fastest brewery team made by local blacksmith Jonathan Clift. Both trophys will be on display at The Talbot, Knightwick – home of The Teme Valley Brewery.
