Dram Fine Beer Collaboration Tastes Good
A deliciously Scottish collaboration between two leading Perthshire based craft producers, Inveralmond Brewery and Glenturret Distillery, has delivered the region’s first tipple to be aged in former whisky casks. Launching Ooskabeer Batch #1 at a wintery Perth’s St Andrews Day Festival Market at the weekend, spirits from both the Brewery and the Distillery were in fine mettle to brave the winter weather as both producers stood side by side for the few hours that the market remained open to offer the new brew to a curious and discerning market customer.
Working together over the past six months, Glenturret provided the casks, while Inveralmond added in premium Scotch Ale and the brewing expertise to develop a product that has all the weight of a classic strong ale, with all the strength of a warming whisky on the palate.
The Perth-based brewers pride themselves on brewing ‘Beautiful beer from the heart of Scotland’ and are thrilled to have worked with Scotland’s oldest working distillery to develop Ooskabeer Batch #1 to help mark Glenturret’s 240th anniversary.
Fergus Clark, Managing Director of Inveralmond Brewery commented:
“This was a fun project to work on with a fellow craft producer in the same area as Inveralmond – and the result is simply fantastic. We left the beer to age in the cask for several weeks so it has been well and truly infused with the delicious notes of malt whisky. It gives the beer a warmth and richness that will see this a popular drink.”
“But, only 1775 bottles have been produced to mark Glenturret’s recent anniversary, and we’re expecting these to be snapped up quickly by both craft beer and whisky lovers alike.”
Stuart Cassells, General Manager of Glenturret Distillery commented:
“Glenturret Distillery has always been a versatile producer of single malt whisky, and to work collaboratively with a beer producer the calibre of Inveralmond Brewery has been a fantastic experience. The combined expertise, resources and, of course, exceptional products has delivered a beer that has far surpassed all our expectations. It’s delicious.”
The limited edition Ooskabeer Batch #1 will be available at both the Distillery and Brewery shops, with the latter holding an Open Day showcasing the beer on 12 December, online at www.inveralmond-brewery.co.uk and also through selected independent specialist retail shops and selected bars and restaurants.
