SAINSBURY’S 2013 GREAT BRITISH BEER HUNT OFF TO A FLYING START
Over 160 brewers apply for information on the Competition
Sainsbury’s launched its third annual Great British Beer Hunt in late January by writing to brewers of all sizes across the U.K.
Designed to bring new and interesting beers to the shopping aisles for Sainsbury’s customers, the initial reaction from brewers and industry bodies has been overwhelmingly positive.
Jack Rutherford, Sainsbury’s Beer Buyer says, “In the three weeks since we launched the Competition we have received requests for further information from over 160 brewers with entries from brewers as far apart as Penzance and Orkney.”
This is a clear indication that the competitions regional entry option, along with the offer of free exhibition space at the Regional Beer Hunts held in April and May, is exactly what is needed now in the rapidly growing premium ale market.
The competition organisers are providing detailed information, advice and support to those brewers who are keen to take part. Thanks should be given to SIBA, The British Guild of Beer Writers and the many other people in the industry who have helped to spread the word about the Great British Beer Hunt.
The Regional Beer Hunts will be held in across April and May in London, Bristol, Leeds and Glasgow. Hundreds of Sainsbury’s customers will be welcomed to sample the beers, help pick the winners and meet the brewers.
The final date for entries is 10th April and samples of beers will be required a week later.
