CHEERS TO NEW LOCAL BEERS!
Real ale fans have a reason to be ‘merry’ as two new beers with a legendary connection hit the shelves in 75 Lincolnshire Co-operative foodstores.
Robin Hood and Maid Marian are both brewed by the Springhead Brewery in Laneham, near Retford. They join the firm’s beers Roaring Meg and The Leveller which are already popular members of Lincolnshire Co-op’s Love Local range.
Robin Hood is a chestnut brown traditional bitter and Maid Marian is a pale-golden beer with a fruity orange aroma and a refreshing dry finish.
The names of all Springhead’s products have a local link and these latest additions recognise one of the region’s most famous legends.
Helen Teasdale, Managing Director of Springhead Fine Ales states “We love giving our beers names which make them stand out and connect with local people. Roaring Meg and The Leveller have civil war links and that’s a big part of our area’s history. Now, we’re delighted to be name-checking two of our most famous characters with Robin Hood and Maid Marian.
“We are delighted that Lincolnshire Co-op is supporting our ambition to increase awareness and availability of our award-winning locally produced beers.”
All Lincolnshire Co-op foodstores stock at least 100 locally sourced products, including bread and cakes made by Southwell-based Gadsby’s, kindling produced by Nottinghamshire Logs, also from Southwell, plus cheeses, crisps, jams and chutneys, rapeseed oil, eggs, meat and much more.
Supply Chain Manager Nicola Berry said: “Our customers are keen to support local producers as they recognise the quality that firms like Springhead produce and they know that buying local makes a difference to their community’s economy.
“Roaring Meg and The Leveller already have lots of fans across our trading area and I’m sure Robin Hood and Maid Marian will also prove popular.”
