Purity’s brewery expansion for future growth
Purity Brewing Co has cemented its ambitions for future growth with the installation of a new brewhouse and brewing equipment, an investment of almost £1.5million.
The Warwickshire brewery, located on Upper Spernall Farm, less than five miles north of Alcester, will soon be able to produce up to 140,000 pints of beer every week, a 150% increase in brewing capacity.
The installation of the brewing system began in early April, just after Purity achieved the major milestone of completing its 2,000th brew. This means Purity has produced 14 million pints of beer since crafting that first barrel of Pure UBU in December 2005. That’s more than enough to fill three Olympic size swimming pools.
The semi-automated brewing system has been imported from manufacturer Braukon, based in Germany.
Paul Halsey, Managing Director, said: “We’ve experienced incredible growth and success since 2005. We needed to take the company to the next level so we’ve made a big investment with this expansion, and Purity will continue to grow in the short to medium term, with fantastic prospects for the long-term.
“The new plant will be up and running by mid to late summer. But our expansion isn’t just restricted to the new brewhouse. We’ve always had a strong commitment to supporting the environment, as all waste products are recycled through a pond and wetland system. This sustainable eco-system helps minimise carbon dioxide emissions and encourage wildlife diversity. As part of the brewery expansion, the wetland system has now increased in size to cope with new volumes.
“In addition to Pure Gold, Purity today produces Pure UBU and Mad Goose beers for nearly 500 pubs, from Stafford to London and Stroud to Nottingham. Meanwhile, Purity’s bottled beers are sold by large and small off licences alike including Waitrose, Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Asda.”
