East Lancashire Brewery Boss Makes Switch From Thwaites to Moorhouses
A Brewery boss has crossed the great divide, leaving Blackburn for Burnley.

Mark Boardman has left his post as national trade manager at Thwaites to become national accounts controller at Moorhouse’s.
Mr Boardman, 53, who has almost 30 years’ experience in the brewing and drinks industry, will look to expand Moorhouse’s export business across the UK and the rest of the world.
The London-based executive said he saw the new job as a challenge similar to the one he faced during his decade at Penny Street firm Thwaites. He said: “I had a great job at Thwaites and enjoyed a huge amount of growth.
“I saw an opportunity at Moorhouse’s because, if you go back five or six years it is like where we were at Thwaites.
“There is a new brewery and it is a great opportunity to help grow and shape Moorhouse’s national business.
“I want to take a successful brewery out of its heartland and into new markets.”
With Thwaites, Mr Boardman grew sales both in the UK and in export markets, including the US.
He joined the Moorhouse Street brewery as it announced it had surpassed the five million-pints-a-year milestone at its two-year-old £4.2m brewing complex, which trebled former brewing capacity to more than 1,000 brewer’s barrels a week.
Managing director David Grant said: “Over the past two years we have made significant progress, but we are now ready for the next level of our development as a major independent UK brewer.
“It is crucial we build on our investment in the new brewery and grow business, both with national UK pub companies and abroad. Mark has the knowledge and experience to play an invaluable role.”
