Triple Success for Albion Brewers
Three of the North Wales based breweries behind the Albion Ale House, Conwy, have this week gained awards in the 2013 Champion Beer of Britain competition held at Olympia, London. The competition is run by the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) as part of their Great British Beer Festival and is the most prestigious beer competition in the country.
Great Orme Brewery was awarded ‘Champion Mild of Britain’ for their Welsh Black while Conwy Brewery and Purple Moose Brewery both picked up Bronze awards for Honey Fayre and Glaslyn Ale, respectively. These three were the only Welsh breweries to collect awards in CAMRA’s national competition this year.
The three breweries have successfully worked together, along with Nant Brewery, to transform the Albion Ale House into a popular and highly acclaimed drinking establishment.
Jonathan Hughes, founder of Great Orme Brewery, is extremely proud of his achievement and commented, “We are so pleased to be an integral part of a golden period in Welsh brewing”. The manager of the Albion, Stuart Chapman-Edwards, offered his congratulations to the brewers, adding, “This reiterates what the customers and staff at the Albion Ale House already know – that we are consistently serving some of the finest crafted ales in the country”.
