Freedom Brewery lines up GBP1.5m expansion
UK craft brewer Freedom Brewery is to triple its capacity in a GBP1.5m (US$2.2m) expansion project.
The Staffordshire-based company will instal new fermentation and maturation tanks as well as a brew house for triple-filtering beer. It said the expansion is in response to a growing global craft beer scene.
“We are being requested in more and more outlets from independent bars and restaurants to wholesalers and retailers at home and abroad,” said Freedom Brewery’s director, Andrew Taylor. “Our growth and expansion importantly means we are not only able to make more of our award-winning beers, but to keep innovating and introducing more new products.”
According to the company, its sales have increased by 400% in the past five years.
Last month, Marston’s agreed to acquire the beer division of fellow UK brewer Daniel Thwaites for GBP25.1m.
