Tiny but Mighty
Padstow Brewing Company beat off strong competition from Regional and National brewers to win the highly coveted Champion Beer of 2015 in the prestigious Taste of the West awards.
Padstow Brewing Company claims the top prize in this year’s Taste of the West awards, with Padstow Sundowner being awarded Champion Beer of 2015.
The small-batch craft brewery won two gold and two silver awards in the Beer category in the 2015 Taste of the West awards. Out of the 27 Gold medals awarded, both of its gold-winners (Padstow Sundowner and Padstow IPA) were selected to be among just nine beers shortlisted for the final. The results were announced on 28 September to a packed Taste of the West luncheon at Somerset’s County Cricket Ground.
Owners and brewers Caron and Des Archer were absolutely delighted. “It’s an enormous achievement for a relatively new small brewery to take the top position in these awards. We’ve worked so hard to get all of our beers to look great and taste fabulous. Our customers already know this and now a panel of professional judges and experts has agreed.”
Padstow Sundowner is an ultra-pale, ultra-hopped beer. It has tropical aromas and a balanced palate that belies its ABV of 6.5%. The judges commented that it’s inviting aromas matched perfectly with the well-balanced beer that had just the right amount of bitterness.
Padstow Brewing Company has not stopped innovating. They recently launched their newest product to critical acclaim; a wheat beer called Lobster Tale. This beer pairs perfectly with seafood and a donation is made from each bottle sold to support the National Lobster Hatchery charity in Padstow.
