SIBA welcome extended opening hours to toast Queen’s 90th birthday
The Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA), have welcomed the Prime Minister’s announcement that there will be extended pub opening hours to celebrate the Queen’s 90th Birthday.
“SIBA welcome the announcement that pub opening hours will be extended and hope that people across the UK will toast the Queen’s birthday with a beer from one of our many independent craft brewers – a fitting tribute given brewery numbers are now at their highest since The Queen was born, with a wider variety of different beers being brewed than ever before.”

Notes to Editors:
The number of UK breweries in 1926 was 1,844, it then fell steadily until an all time low of 200 breweries in 1982. Since then numbers steadily increased, with a huge surge in recent years leading to the current figure of 1,424 breweries – the highest per capita in the world.
