Hornbeam Brewery (Denton) under new ownership
The award-winning Hornbeam Brewery in Denton, Manchester, has recently been taken over by new ownership to provide an expanding range of the finest cask ales to restaurants and bars throughout the North of England.
The new ownership team of David Nabb and James Thompson have a longstanding passion for cask ale, ‘nurtured’ over many years thanks to the ever-growing ale scene in the UK. When the chance to become part of the industry arose in mid-2016, by the listing for sale of such an established local brewery, the Bolton-based business partners jumped at it.
David Nabb says of the venture, ‘James and I are thrilled to be involved with Hornbeam, it’s got such a good reputation in the area and gives us the chance to build on something fantastic.’
The new owners plan to strengthen ties with existing customers as well as introducing their range of products to a whole new range of establishments, with James stating, ‘Our current customer list includes some of the best known pubs and ale bars in the North and they are telling us how excited they are to see how we develop the new beers, so we’re really encouraged. We will be contacting lots of new bars and pubs to continue building new relationships throughout the region.’
The brewery has expanded its range of fine cask ales across two brands. Firstly, a newly enhanced and freshened up version of the traditional Hornbeam brand that has been so popular in pubs and bars across the North of England with flagship ales such as the award-winning Top Hops and the fruit infused Orange Blossom. These classics have been supplemented with the addition of new ales to complement the other fantastic beers being produced all over Manchester.
The exciting new brand recently revealed by the brewery is called ‘EPICURUS’ after the Greek philosopher who’s principle goal was to help people attain a happy and tranquil life, preaching peace and happiness. In tribute to this powerhouse of Greek history the ales in the new EPICURUS brand are named after Greek Gods such as Hades, Zeus and Poseidon.
Plans are not solely focused on selling to pubs either, with the brewery gearing up to offer events and tasting sessions in-house in the New Year. David explains, ‘We are really keen to invite the public in to the brewery itself so they can get hands on with the process and see how their beer is made. We are planning some great events for 2017; Meet the Brewers, Brew your Own Hornbeam, and Tasting Nights to name a few.’
Hornbeam Brewery is offering promotions on cask ales to new customers throughout the coming weeks over the Christmas rush and are able to provide next day delivery on orders placed before 3pm. To enquire about product range and pricing, landlords and individuals are asked to call the sales manager Nick Taylor directly on 0790 371 2805, or drop into the brewery itself.
