For the 2025 SIBA Homebrew Beer Awards, SIBA has teamed up with malt specialists Crisp Malt, The Malt Miller and leading London brewery Five Points to challenge homebrewing members to brew the UK’s most alluring British Dark Beer. This could be a Dark Mild, Stout, Porter or even a Red Ale, it’s up to you.

In celebration of the 60th anniversary of Maris Otter in 2025, your base malt should use this legendary variety as well as the other Crisp Malts you need (excluded Chevallier and Hana malts) – all provided free courtesy of our partners.

Crisp Malt will provide the malts needed for a 19 litre batch to each entrant via The Malt Miller and all you have to do is pay the postage and packaging.  SIBA will provide each entrant with a code to use on The Malt Miller website which can be used to order the Crisp Malts.

Five Points will host the winner at their brewery site in London where they get to brew with the expert team using their innovative test kit. The beer will be packaged into cask and sold through Five Points tap and pub.
