Head Brewer / General Manager

T J Morris Brewing Ltd is a growing and innovative brewing company known for its high-quality cask and premium craft beers. Based in the Baltic Triangle, Liverpool with a Bar & Kitchen on site. We are part of the T J Morris Ltd (Home Bargains) Group. We own the famous Liverpool brand Higsons which dates back to 1780 along with the more modern Love Lane craft beer brand. Role Description The Head Brewer / General Manager will oversee all aspects of brewing & packaging operations. Responsibilities include managing the brewing process from ingredient sourcing to packaging, ensuring quality control at every step. The role also involves supervising brewery staff, maintaining production schedules, developing new beer recipes, and adhering to safety and hygiene standards. The Head Brewer will be responsible for driving innovation, managing workflow, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements along with management of the HACCP programme, SALSA accreditation, and general health & safety of the site. This is an opportunity for a brewer with a vision to build and develop the Love Lane and Higsons brands and help shape the future of the brewery. Utilising the 50HL brewing kit along with the 5HL trial brew kit for NPD and collaboration brews. It’s a given that you will be passionate about brewing, modern and traditional, keg and cask, you will also know the market ‘on and off trade’ and have new ideas for both as the brewery expands. The brewery is well funded and is unique in having a direct route to market in over 500 Home Bargains stores which we can use to develop the brands. Our retail mission in store is to offer the best value independent craft beer on the high street with seasonal and special brews throughout the year as well as our core range. Key Personal Qualities / Skills Flexibility & can-do attitude Strong technical skills in brewing processes, recipe formulation, and quality assurance Experience in brewery operations, including equipment maintenance and production scheduling Excellent knowledge of industry hygiene standards and regulatory compliance Strong problem-solving, communication, and organisational skills Innovative approach to product development and understanding of market trends Ability to identify opportunities to reduce beer & energy losses Formal brewing qualification 5 years+ experience in running a brewing operation Valid UK driving license and FLT license Salary information We are keen to recruit someone who can hit the ground running and drive the operation.
